This was shot to illustrate an article on patriotism, under the title: 'Would They Fight?' and subtitled: 'What is the attitude of young British men to the possibility of war? Under what circumstances, if any, would they agree to defend their country?' This was of course a pastiche of the famous picture 'Flag Raising At Iwo Jima' - by war photographer Joe Rosenthal. Some claim this famous shot was a set-up, or at least that it was re-shot to improve it. Anyway, whatever's the truth, it's become an icon of war, which I'm not the first to rip off!
